Dubai- United Arab of Emirates: The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced that four civilian commercial cargo ships from several nationalities were hit Sunday morning by sabotage operations near the territorial waters in the Gulf of Oman, towards the eastern coast, east of Fujairah.
The Ministry said in a statement that the concerned authorities have taken all the necessary measures, and are carrying out investigations to find the circumstances of the incident in cooperation with local and international bodies, and the relevant parties will announce the results once the investigations are concluded.
The incident resulted in no injuries or deaths and no spillage of harmful chemicals or fuel
The Foreign Ministry pointed out that the sabotage operations did not result in any fatalities or injuries, and there is no leakage of any harmful substances or fuel from these vessels.
There is no truth to what some Iranian and Lebanese media outlets aired on alleged explosions at a nearby Emirati port.
It also stressed that work is going on normally in the port of Fujairah without any interruption, and rumors that the incident occurred inside the port are unfounded, and the port is continuing to routinely provide its service.
The UAE Foreign Ministry stressed that exposing commercial cargo ships to acts of sabotage and threatening the lives of their crews is a serious escalation, stressing the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities to prevent any parties trying to undermine the security and safety of maritime traffic, which is a threat to international security and safety.
There are no details on the nature of sabotage or the responsible. It is noteworthy that the incident comes after the U.S. has cautioned against Iranian ships or its proxies that could target maritime traffic in the region. Besides, America is deploying an aircraft carrier and B-52 bombers to the Persian Gulf to confront any threat from Tehran.
