Saudi National Day is celebrated in Saudi Arabia on 23 September of each year to commemorate the renaming of the Kingdom of Nejd and Hejaz to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by a royal decree from King Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud in 1932.

The Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Civil Service has announced a four-day holiday to celebrate this year's Saudi National Day. The holidays will be Sept. 20-23, and work will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

The Saudi General Entertainment Authority (GEA), which supervises the events to celebrate the 89th National Day season of Saudi Arabia, announced the details of the season events that will be held in all regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from 19th to 23rd September, where visitors to enjoy many different events between fireworks and concerts, designed for this special occasion. This season is a good opportunity for youth to meet and share experiences.

SaudiArabia's establishment

KingAbdulaziz was able to conquer the oases of Riyadh in 1902; and al-Hasa in 1913,and by 1925, he unified both Nejd and Hejaz after defeating the forces ofSharif Hussein in 1925.

On 23 September 1932, Ibn Saud changed the name of his realm to his family name, the House of Saud.

How to celebrate Saudi National Day

Saudi National Day is celebrated with folklore dances, songs and traditional festivals. The roads and buildings are decorated with Saudi flags and people wear green shirts.

According tothe Saudi Arabian government, the celebration is an opportunity to learn theheritage, customs, and traditions of the House of Saud. The celebrations alsoaim to introduce the heritage of the Saudi-ruled Arabia, appreciate the beautyof the country and the ruling family, and promote pride in the family of Saud.
