TheArab Parliament has issued today the "Guiding Law for the Preservation andProtection of Arab Antiquities", as a unified Arab law on which Arabcountries rely upon when preparing or updating their national legislationsregarding protecting their antiquities.
Ina statement today, the President of the Arab Parliament, Dr. Mishaal bin FahimAl-Salami, indicated that the law aims to achieve legal protection for Arabantiquities at all national, regional and international levels, and to put inplace practical mechanisms to help Arab countries to document cultural relicsand properties and register them in national lists.
Itis worth noting that strict rules have been developed to prevent stealing orsmuggling of Arab antiquities and the restoration of the looted ones outsideArab countries.
