In a show of solidarity with Saudi Arabia; many countries and organizations condemned the Iranian-backed Houthi militia for launching four drones laden with explosives toward Saudi Arabia on Friday.
The drones were, however, intercepted and destroyed by the Arab Coalition forces in Yemeni airspace.
Leading the condemnation, Egypt strongly denounced the terrorist attacks. In a statement, Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs; expressed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in all its measures to protect its national security. It also stressed that such acts will only lead to further escalating, deepening the tension, and pushing Yemen to chaos.
Egypt underlined the importance of responding to all ceasefire initiatives for reaching an agreement in line with the GCC initiative and its implementation mechanisms; the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue, and the Security Council Resolution No. 2216.
The Jordanian government also condemned the attack which was foiled by the Arab coalition forces. The spokesperson for the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dhaifallah Al-Fayez, expressed Jordan's condemnation and rejection of the cowardly terrorist attack, affirming that his country stands absolutely on the side of Saudi Arabia.
The Jordanian government spokesman also said that any threat to the security of Saudi Arabia is a threat to the security and stability of Jordan and the entire region.
Meanwhile, the Arab League issued a statement on behalf of its Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit denouncing the attack. In the statement, the League said that these attacks reflect the Houthi complete absence of political will to reach a cease-fire.
The Secretariat General of the Islamic Cooperation Organization also expressed strong condemnation of the Houthi attack.
In a statement, OIC Secretary-General Dr. Yusuf Bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen reiterated the organization's support for the Arab Coalition's efforts in Yemen. Al-Othaimeen said the OIC stands with Saudi Arabia and any steps it takes to confront Houthi terrorism.
The OIC chief held Houthi terrorist militia and those backing them from behind, providing them with funds as well as weapons, accountable for the full responsibility of such terrorist acts.
Speaker of the Arab Parliament Dr. Mishaal Bin Fahm also joined the condemnation. In a statement today, Dr. Al-Salami said that these repeated terrorist attacks by the Houthi militia represent a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter; international humanitarian law and international covenants and norms; and also pose a threat to the security and stability of the region.
He held the Iranian regime fully responsible for these terrorist attacks by violating the resolutions of the UN Security Council; especially Resolution No. 2216, banning the supply of weapons to the Houthi militia.
