Banning foreign vehicles exceeding lifespan from entering Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia has started implementing the life expectancy requirement for foreign vehicles including taxis, buses, and trucks; heading to Saudi territories via the Kingdom’s border crossing points, the Public Transport Authority PTA) announced on Monday.

Saudi Arabia has started implementing the life expectancy requirement for foreign vehicles including taxis, buses, and trucks; heading to Saudi territories via the Kingdom's border crossing points, the Public Transport Authority PTA) announced on Monday.

The PTA also said that vehicles not conform with the operational life requirement will not be available into the Kingdom. This is with the objective of raising the level of road safety.

The PTA said that the ban on the entry of vehicles older than their life expectancy into Saudi territories; via the border crossing points began on April 4, 2021.

The PTA also said that the implementation of the conditions on foreign vehicles will be as follows; taxis 5 years, buses 10 years, and trucks 20 years from the manufacturing date. The vehicle's life expectancy will be from the beginning of the year of manufacturing.
