Three big

African national teams Egypt, Cameroon and Morocco have been eliminated from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations that takes place in Egypt from 21 June to 19 July 2019.

Nigeria national football team have defeated title holders Cameroon  3-2 in the knockout stage of the tournament, while hosts Egypt lost to South Africa 1-0 and Morocco suffered a shock defeat 4-1 after penalty shots from minor side Benin.

Odion Ighalo scored twice for Nigeria in Alexandria, either side of Stephane Bahoken and Clinton Njie netting for the Indomitable Lions.

Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi then grabbed the winner in the 66th minute to put Nigeria through and give them renewed hope of a fourth continental title.

But they will now have to get past South Africa not Egypt in the quarterfinals after the fervent home fans in Cairo were stunned into silence by Thembinkosi Lorch’s counter-attack goal five minutes from time.
