The Council of Economic and Development Affairs held a meeting, at Al-Yamamah Palace last night.

During the meeting, they discussed various relating economic and development issues; A quarterly economic report by the Ministry of Economy and Planning. It covered world economic developments, main indicators and world growth expectations all through 2021.

It also tackled the national economy trends, especially the rate of growth and the prominent contributions of the main sectors, in the growth of the GDP of the Kingdom. In addition to the major future expectations for the Saudi economy and the necessary relevant recommendations.

On the other hand, the council reviewed a presentation made by the Ministry of Health; It touched on the plan of the ministry on the special program for governance of health sector and promoting it. This includes current challenges, in terms of the health sector governance, mainly the lack of a particular regulator for the health sector and limited coordination and planning among different government sectors and limited control and accountability, in the health sector, as well as double providing of health service, financing of the same beneficiary and limited empowerment in the private sector.

They also discussed organizational roles to be played, in all health sector domains; the public hygiene, providing health care, financing health services.

The council concluded by making appropriate recommendations relating to the issues discussed.
