Saudi Arabia and Pakistan signed on Friday two agreements; and two memoranda of understanding to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields.
The documents were signed during the visit of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan; who arrived here on Friday evening on a three-day official visit heading a high-level delegation.
Both Crown Prince Muhammed Bin Salman and Pakistani PM Imran Khan witnessed the signing of the agreements; inked by the relevant ministers from both sides.
Both the countries also signed an agreement to set up Supreme Coordination Council; to strengthen the bilateral cooperation in multiple fields.
Earlier, the Pakistani premier received by Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman at the Royal Court at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah. Both leaders held a round of talks to strengthen bilateral relations.
During the meeting, they affirmed the depth of relations between the two countries. Besides, underscoring the importance of expanding and intensifying aspects of bilateral cooperation and coordination and enhancing them in various fields. Also, the two sides exchanged views on issues of common interest to the two countries at the regional and international arenas; in a way that contributes to supporting and enhancing security and stability.
For his part, the Pakistani premier praised the leading role Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman is playing in promoting Islamic unity, and the positive role of Saudi Arabia in resolving the issues facing the Islamic nation and its endeavors for regional and international peace and security.
The two sides discussed ways to enhance and strengthen economic and trade relations between the two countries through exploring areas of investment and opportunities in light of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and the priorities of development in Pakistan. They confirmed their satisfaction with the firmness of bilateral military and security relations; and agreed on further cooperation to achieve common goals between the two countries.
Special Representative of the Pakistani Prime Minister for Middle East Affairs Sheikh Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi affirmed that the visit of Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan to Saudi Arabia will give a new push to the bilateral relations between the two countries.
He said that this visit, which comes in response to the invitation of Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, reflects the depth of the existing relations between the two countries. It also comes in the context of the ongoing consultations between the two countries and the two leaderships to discuss the most important and prominent developments at the regional, Arab, Islamic and international levels.
Former Ambassador of Pakistan to Saudi Arabia Khan Hasham Bin Saddique said that the Kingdom is one of the most important strategic allies of Pakistan.
In a statement to SPA, he said that the relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are very strong; and long-standing relations, based on the principles of brotherhood, trust and shared religious values. He also highlighted the visit of Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan; adding that this visit comes at the invitation of Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman.
