Four terrorists involved in an attack on a security checkpoint in the North Sinai city of Arish have been killed in a shootout with security forces, the Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday June 8th.

The exchange of fire took place as the police forces were raiding a house in North Sinai town Al-Arish, the ministry said, noting that three machine-guns and an explosive belt have been in their possession, MENA Egypt’s state news agency reported.

All legal measures have been taken and the Higher State Security Prosecution is investigating the incident, a ministry statement added.

A terror attack, which took place at dawn on Wednesday June 5th, claimed the lives of eight policemen.
