GACA Approves New Flights from and to Sharurah Airport

The GeneralAuthority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has approved additional flights from andto Sharurah Airport via the national carrier, Saudi Arabian Airlines,starting on the 1st of March, 2020.

Saudi Arabia will beoperating two round trip flights to King Khalid International Airport in Riyadhand to King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, bringing thetotal to four flights weekly.

This comes withinGACA's effort to develop airports and increase destinations for different regionsof the Kingdom. The aim is connecting the Kingdom with an integrated airnetwork, raising the level of competitiveness and striking a balance betweensupply and demand in the air transport market.

This also comes withinGACA's programs to increase flights growth in many of the Kingdom's airports,and in return, put in place the necessary treatments for low-traffic airportsto find the needed solutions to raise the growth rate in air and passengertraffic. Lately, GACA started its efforts with Prince Naif bin AbdulazizInternational Airport in Al-Qassim Region, Prince Abdulmohsen bin AbdulazizInternational Airport in Yanbu, Hail International Airport and TaifInternational Airport, and today it continues to implement its developmentefforts at Sharurah Airport.

It is worth notingthat GACA is developing an international and domestic airports networkto accommodate the demand and the growing increase in the number of travelersin various airports throughout the Kingdom. Its main goal is to build amodern airport system that provides advanced modern services that will providetravelers with high caliber services and accommodate the growing demand for airtraffic in the Kingdom.
