Social media reports that the Kingdom plans to levy a fee on residential and commercial garbage are totally ‘baseless’; a senior official said.
Local media quoted Mohammed Al-Buqami, director of Public Relations at the Jeddah Municipality as dismissing the reports. He also suggested that the ministry of municipal and rural affairs planned to impose the garbage tax; based on the electric power consumption.
Nayef Al-Sharif, head of the Jeddah Chamber’s Commercial Committee; also urged the public not to believe rumors and to avoid receiving information from unreliable source.
Nayef Bin Abdulmohsen Al-Rajhi, member of the Board of Directors of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry; also said rumors are harmful to commercial activities and those who initiate them should be pursued and held accountable.
