Saudidirector Haifa Al-Mansour participates once again in the Venice Film Festival,where she previously presented 'Wadjda' film in 2012 with the film 'ThePerfect Candidate, ' which tells the story of a Saudi young woman who worksas a physician and decides to run for municipal elections in Saudi Arabia andwill participate in the official competition.

Thefestival, to be launched on August 28th, will focus on the status ofwomen, with many of the 21 films participating in the official competition,deal with this topic and the awards to be distributed on September 7th.

Saudi Arabian director, Haifa Al-Mansour's 'The Perfect Candidate' is the only participating film from the region to be competed with other 21 films in the Venice Film Festival.

It'snoteworthy that Haifa Al-Mansour was the first Saudi-female to shoot a film inSaudi Arabia, 'Wadjda' in 2012 which tellsthe story of a rebellious Saudi girl, Waad Mohammad who enters a Koranrecitation competition at her school and hopes to win enough money to buy herown bicycle.

Thefestival is once again attracting big titles such as Robert De Niro, Brad Pitt,Kristen Stewart, Scarlett Johansson and Catherine Donovan.

Thefestival will open with 'The Truth,' by Hirokazu Kore-eda, starring CatherineDonovan and Juliette Pinochet and will close with 'The Burnt Orange Heresy'by Giuseppe Capotondi.

Ashas been the custom, many American stars and huge Hollywood productions takepart in this event, which has become a key station in the race to the OscarAwards.

Americanactor Brad Pitt will walk on the red carpet to present the highly anticipatedfilm 'Ad Astra' by James Gray, a fictional film that depicts a manjourneys across a lawless solar system to find his missing father, a renegadescientist who poses a threat to humanity.

RobertDe Niro comes to promote 'Joker, ' directed by Todd Phillips, whoexplores the origins of Batman's famous opponent with Joaquin Phoenix as theclown.
