Japan appreciates Coalition to Restore Legitimacy’s decision of Ceasefire in Yemen

The Government of Japan has welcomed the announcement by the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, for a two-week comprehensive ceasefire, strongly urging all the parties to respond to the United Nations Secretary-General’s call for a ceasefire.

Japanese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ohtaka Masato affirmed his country’s support for the efforts of the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General to find a political solution to the conflict in Yemen, stressing that peace and stability in the Middle East, including Yemen, are important to achieving international peace and stability.

He pointed out that his country’s government participated in the humanitarian aid in Yemen and it remains committed to its continued contribution in the region in cooperation with the concerned countries in order to preserve and enhance the peace and the stability in the Middle East region.
