Japanese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia praises timing of extraordinary G20 summit

Ambassador of Japan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Tsukasa Uemura, praised the timing of the extraordinary virtual summit of the leaders of the G20 held today under the chairmanship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and leaders of the twenty most powerful economies in the world, in light of the successive developments of the pandemic of the Novel Coronavirus COVID-19.

He said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency: "We are greatly encouraged by the clear and resolute statement issued by the leaders of the G20, which confirms in particular that the G20 will take all necessary measures possible to combat the spread of the Coronavirus worldwide."

He added: "We feel the great support ofall leaders who support the decision taken by the International OlympicCommittee to reschedule the Olympic Games no later than the summer of 2021 inTokyo," highly appreciating the wise leadership of the Custodian of theTwo Holy Mosques for the work of the summit.
