Joint Saudi-UAE team to develop housing projects

Ajoint housing team has been established between Saudi Arabia and the UnitedArab Emirates with the aim of strengthening the strategic partnership in thefield of housing, developing housing services and launching pilot projectsthrough a unified system within the framework of cooperation and integrationbetween the two countries and within the initiatives of the Saudi-UAECoordination Council.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the joint Saudi-UAE team is concerned with developing initiatives, conducting studies, submitting proposals to the Executive Committee of the Council, launching joint initiatives and projects in areas related to housing, as well as exchanging knowledge, expertise, information, studies, policies, administrative, legal and technical expertise, and social and demographic research.

As part of its mandate, the Saudi-UAE team is working to build a knowledge platform through which it standardizes the construction sector and building materials used in housing, coordinates the issuance and development of legislations that give priority to the use of housing projects for building materials produced in the two countries in particular and in the GCC countries in general, after the completion of the regulatory approvals from the relevant authorities, as well as it organizes the visits between delegations for various housing projects in the two countries and takes the necessary approvals for their implementation.

Housing projects to meet the families'needs

Dr.Abdullah Al-Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure and Development and Chairman of theBoard of Directors of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program, said that the UAEbelieves in the need to strengthen cooperation between them and Saudi Arabia inorder to ensure the integration of leading housing services that contribute toachieving housing stability within the best standards and meet the aspirationsof the families in both countries.

Al-Nuaimi stressed that this partnership will contribute to achieving sustainability in housing projects to ensure optimal investment of available resources and provide opportunities to implement leading housing solutions.

A joint team in the field of housing was established between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, where the Chairman of each side shall chair one of the sessions of the group.

Onthe Saudi side, the team includes Eng. Abdullah Al-Badeer as Chairman, Eng.Mohammad Al-Ghazwani as Vice President, Dr. Hassan Al-Hazmi, Ibrahim Al-Ghaheb,Ibrahim Al-Saif and Abdullah Al-Rashed.

Onthe UAE side, the team is headed by Eng. Jamila Al Fandi, General Manager ofSheikh Zayed Housing Program and Hamad Bin Nakhirat Al-Ameri as Vice President,Eng. Khalifa Al Tunaiji, Emirates Development Bank Representative, Khalid Al-Sumairiand Eng. Ibtisam Al-Ghuwais.

The Saudi-UAE Coordination Council was established as part of an agreement between Saudi Arabia and the UAE in May 2016, under the directives of King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz, and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, President of the UAE, to achieve a common vision focused on highlighting the status of the two countries in the fields of economy, human development, political integration and military security, in order to achieve the welfare of the society of the two countries.
