KACST is participating in UNESCO meeting to confront Coronavirus

KingAbdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) in coordination withthe National Committee for Education, Culture and Science participatedin the virtual meeting held by the United Nations Educational, Scientific andCultural Organization (UNESCO) recently with the participation ofministers and officials from member countries around the world, where duringthe meeting the importance of international cooperation in the scientific fieldwas discussed, and work on increased investment in its derivatives with theoutbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Themeeting, in which the President of KACST, Dr. Anas bin Faris Al-Faris,discussed the development and adoption of a "recommendation" for activating the"open science" initiative that aims to enable everyone to access the availablescientific information and data without financial fees, while submitting newproposals and working to bring those interested in Science and knowledgefields.

Therecommendation also includes a commitment to improve science production anddissemination methods in all countries of the world, and the process ofdrafting the recommendation is likely to come in a balanced and comprehensivemanner with the cooperation of all concerned parties by the year 2021.

It isnoteworthy that the global scientific community works to address the emergencycaused by the spread of the virus by participating in research results andmaking them available and providing all parties with guidance information aboutthe virus.
