King Salman Chairs Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet Session at Al-Yamamah Palace

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman binAbdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet's session held at Al-Yamamah Palace onTuesday, December 31st .

At the outset of the session, the King briefed the Cabineton the content of the two messages received from President Sahle-Work Zewde andPrime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

The Cabinet welcomed the signing by the Kingdom of SaudiArabia and the State of Kuwait of an agreement annexed to the two agreements ofdividing the divided and the submerged zones, adjacent to the divided zone, anda memorandum of understanding related to procedures for resuming oil productionfrom the divided and submerged zones on both sides. The Cabinet also stressedthat this embodies an aspect of deep-rooted relations between the twocountries, led by The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman binAbdulaziz Al Saud and Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of theState of Kuwait.

The Minister of Media, Turki bin Abdullah Al-Shabanah,pointed out in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency after the session, thatthe Cabinet reviewed latest developments in the region and the world, stressingthe Kingdom's wide attention and follow-up to the sufferings of Muslims inMyanmar, praising in this regard the United Nations General Assembly adoptionof the "Situation of Human Rights of Rohingya Muslims And Other MinoritiesIn Myanmar" resolution, which the Kingdom submitted on behalf of itssponsoring countries, emanating from its belief in the need to find a solutionto their tragedy and recognize their right of citizenship and a decent life.

The Cabinet reviewed the final statement of the meeting ofindependent members representatives of Syrian revolution and opposition forcesheld in Riyadh, with participation of Syrian national figures from allcomponents of the Syrian people, citing the importance of the political processto achieve a political transition in accordance with international decisions, acondemnation of terrorism in all its forms, a demand for Foreign forces andmilitias, foremost of which Iranian militias, to exit from Syria, and a call onthe international community to assume its responsibilities towards that. Thecabinet stressed its keenness on unity, sovereignty, stability and cohesion ofsocial fabric of Syria.

The Cabinet issued the following decisions:

First: The Cabinet approved an agreement between theKingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Iraq on the promotion and mutualprotection of investments. A royal decree has been prepared.

Second: The Cabinet approved a memorandum ofunderstanding for cooperation in the field of intellectual property between theSaudi Authority for Intellectual Property of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia andthe National Intellectual Property Administration of the People's Republic ofChina.

Third: The Cabinet approved a memorandum ofunderstanding for cooperation in the fields of agricultural development andenvironmental sustainability between the Ministry of Environment, Water andAgriculture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the International Center forBiosaline Agriculture (ICBA).

Fourth: The Cabinet approved an agreement establishingthe Gulf Payments Company.

Fifth: The Cabinet approved a memorandum of understandingfor technical cooperation in the field of tax administration between theGeneral Authority of Zakat and Tax of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and theFederal Tax Service of the Russian Federation.

Sixth: The Cabinet authorized the Minister ofIndustry and Mineral Resources – or his deputy – to discuss with the Tunisianside a draft memorandum of understanding for industrial cooperation between theMinistry of Industry and Mineral Resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia andthe Ministry of Industry and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises of the Republicof Tunisia.

Seventh: The Cabinet authorized the Minister ofTransport, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of CivilAviation, – or his deputy – to sign a draft agreement in the field of airtransport services between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia andthe Government of the Argentine Republic.

Eighth: The Cabinet approved an agreement for cooperationin the field of sports between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabiaand the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Ninth: The Cabinet decided to transfer the nationalheritage activity from the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritageto the Ministry of Culture.

Tenth: The Cabinet appointed Dr. Abdulrahman binSaleh Al-Ubaid, Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al-Sorayai and Eng. Adel bin Ali Al-Ghamdias members of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Standards, Metrology andQuality Organization.

Eleventh: The Cabinet appointed Dr. Abdulaziz binMohammed Al-Suwailem, Eng. Ali bin Ayedh Al-Qarni and Dr. Walid bin MohammedZahid as members of the Board of Directors of the National Center forEnvironmental Compliance Control.
