King Salman Chairs Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet's Session at Al-Yamamah Palace

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet's session held at Al-Yamamah Palace here today.

During the session, the Cabinet reviewed a number of reportson latest developments at regional and international arenas, expressing theKingdom's condemnation of air raids launched by Israeli forces on the GazaStrip, which resulted in killing and injuring dozens of civilians, in violationof the international law, humanitarian principles and internationalconventions, reiterating the Kingdom's call on the international community tohold its responsibilities towards providing international protection for thePalestinian people and confronting Israeli policies that violate theinternational law.

The Cabinet welcomed the international consensus to vote onthe decision to renew the mandate of The United Nations Relief and Works Agencyfor Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) for three years, considering ita global commitment and agreement to support the rights of the Palestinianpeople and the rights of refugees to return to their land, noting in thisregard that the Kingdom is the largest donor to UNRWA, where the programs from2000 to 2019 received approximately $ 900 million from the Kingdom, and thetotal assistance provided to Palestine was roughly $ 7 billion during the sameperiod, in addition to a donation in September 2019 to UNRWA of $ 50 million.

Minister of Media, Turki bin Abdullah Al-Shabanah, said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency that the Cabinet pointed to the Kingdom's affirmation at the meeting of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris, of its commitment with other countries in the region on the agenda of 2030 UNESCO, through the fourth goal of sustainable development in education, and its response to the three policy priorities in the Arab region, as well as the Kingdom's emphasis on the importance of strengthening science, culture and arts to contribute to the dissemination of dialogue and communication among nations, to ensure working with UNESCO in harmony in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and to address the artificial intelligence.

The Cabinet welcomed the agreement on the establishment ofthe Constitutional Committee in Syria and the commencement of its work,expressing its hope that this would help efforts being exerted to reach apolitical solution to the Syrian crisis that fulfills the legitimateaspirations of the Syrian people.

Regarding current events in Myanmar and to what RohingyaMuslims have been subjected, the Cabinet referred to the resolution submittedby the Kingdom, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the European Unionon the human rights situation of Rohingya Muslims and other minorities inMyanmar, including calling on the Myanmar leadership to fulfill its politicaland humanitarian responsibility towards minorities, in addition to supportingits people by embracing all its citizens without discrimination or favoritism.
