National Measurement and Calibration Center Realizes Saudi Scientific Achievement

The National Measurement and Calibration Center (NMCC) at the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), has realized a Saudi scientific achievement, the first of its kind for Gulf and Arab countries in the field of gas metrology.

The center published a specialized scientific research in the international Journal of Chemical Metrology on the first Saudi reference material titled "Preparation and certification of carbon monoxide gas reference material for the quality of CO emission measurements".

SASO pointed out that the center is the only Arab center that owns a laboratory for gas metrology, stressing that this achievement is in line with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's plans to support research and innovation. It also reflects the high levels of laboratories of the center in terms of preparations and technical efficiency, as well as being a real translation for the organization's endeavors to realize reference and entrepreneurship at the national, regional and international levels.

Outcomes of the research have led to the formation of a Saudi team specialized in the production of reference gases with CRMs certificates, and these results have qualified the center technically to spot air pollution across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This will be through providing reference gases, conducting periodic calibration for monitoring stations devices, in addition to the calibration of devices for measuring vehicle exhausts.
