OIC Member States Foreign Ministers Review US Administration's Peace Plan

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held here today the Extraordinary open-ended Executive Committee Meeting at the Level of Foreign Ministers of the OIC Member States to discuss the Organization's position in light of developments of the Palestinian cause and Al-Quds Al-Sharif after the American administration announced its peace plan on January 28.

At the outset of the meeting, Prince Faisal binFarhan bin Abdullah, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, delivered a speech inwhich he stressed the extreme importance of this meeting, where Islamiccountries and the Palestinian cause are experiencing a delicate and importantstage.

The Foreign Minister said that in thissensitive stage that the Palestinian cause is going through, we must bereminded that the OIC was established in the wake of the incident of burningAl-Aqsa Mosque in Al-Quds Al-Sharif. It was established to serve as thecollective voice of the Islamic world and the defender of its states' issuesand interests, seeking to achieve stability and security of their peoples.

The Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs stressedthat the Palestinian cause will remain the first central issue of thisorganization, as the multiplicity of regional and international issues andcrises that are present in our contemporary reality will not affect that. Headded that there is no doubt that we in this prestigious organization arerequired more than ever to show solidarity with the Palestinian people indefense of their just cause and the sanctuary of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

At the end of his speech, Prince Faisal binFarhan bin Abdullah reaffirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stands in thelight of these regional and international changes alongside the Palestinianpeople and supports them for their choices in a way that achieves their hopesand aspirations. He also stressed the need for serious work and efforts to endthe Palestinian-Israeli conflict through a just and comprehensive solution tothe Palestinian cause, that ensures the rights of the Palestinian people andrestores their legitimate rights.
