OIC Secretary General Calls on Member States to Join Hands in Facing Coronavirus

The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen stressed the OIC's support for all the efforts made by its member states to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), praising the precautionary measures taken by member states to prevent and protect their citizens, calling for adherence to these measures and decisions of their countries for the public interest.

Dr. Al-Othaimeen affirmed the OIC's support for its member states in these circumstances to limit the spread of the virus, warning of the danger of rumors, stressing that information is to be taken from official sources.

Hecalled on the governments of member states, research institutions andscientists of the Islamic world to work, join hands and coordinate in order toaccelerate and contribute to the production of a vaccine or a cure for thevirus, while many countries in the world seek to produce a successful drug thatends this crisis that threatens the world, stressing its confidence in theenergy and capabilities of the Islamic world and its human cadres to work,innovate and produce.

He reiterated appreciation of Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) efforts in supporting the member states to confront this pandemic.
