Qatar Reshuffles Cabinet, naming New Prime Minister

Qatar's ruler appointed a new prime minister, the office of Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said on Tuesday.

Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdelaziz Al Thani will take on the role of qatar's government prime minister.

He takes over the post after Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani.

Al Thani, who was also interior minister, submitted his resignation earlier to the emir.

The new premier, who will also take on the post of interior minister, was the head of the Amiri Diwan, the emir's office.

Key cabinet positions such as foreign, energy, finance, defense and trade ministries remained unchanged.
