The Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), Turki Al-Sheikh confirmed that the visitors of the Boulevard zone during the Riyadh season has reached, within 24 hours, 1.2 million visitors, hitting a record.
Turki Al-Sheikh tweeted: “Riyadh traffic police estimated we have exceeded 600K which means ten times the capacity”.
Riyadh Season Boulevard zone opens with spectacular parade, thought to be the biggest parade in Saudi Arabia to date. More than 1,500 performers and 25 floats took part in a parade and carnival on Thursday night that officially launched Riyadh Season’s Boulevard zone. The crowds that gathered for the fun-packed event were also treated to motorcycle displays, fireworks and other surprises.
Al-Sheikh said: “The total attendance at the Boulevard within 24 hours from 9 pm Thursday to 9 pm Friday, reached 1.2 million visitors”.
He also explained that this statistic is provided by the Telecommunications Company and the General Administration of Traffic.
The Boulevard site includes more than 50 local and international stores, art theaters, restaurants, sports, music and theatrical events, as well as an open cinema and dancing fountain shows.
The Boulevard site spans over 400,000 square meters, with nine events and entertainment options for all ages.
In addition, the theater of the artist Mohammad Abdo, which can accommodate 22,000 spectators, and the theater of the late Abu Bakr Salem with a capacity of 6,000 people, in addition to the theater of the late Bakr Al-Shadi with a capacity of 2,000 people.
The ambitious 2019 Saudi Seasons initiative, the first of its kind in the region, was launched in February and includes 11 local seasons covering most parts of Saudi Arabia. Designed to promote the fledgling Saudi entertainment sector and boost tourism, it is attracting some of the biggest names in world entertainment.
