Saudi Arabia's air defenses have intercepted and destroyed early Tuesday an explosive-laden drone; launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia toward Saudi Arabia's Abha International Airport.

In a statement, the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen also called the attempt of the Houthi militia to deliberately target the airport a war crime.

"We are taking operational measures to deal with sources of threats to protect civilians and civilian facilities; the coalition said in the statement.

The coalition also said that shrapnel scattered by the interception in the vicinity of the airport, without injuries or damage.

On Monday, the coalition also shot down two drones; one targeting Jazan, and the other targeting Najran.
