Saudi Arabia reported on Tuesday its first casualty from the new coronavirus in a 51-year-old Afghan resident.

Health Ministry spokesman Mohammed Abdelali told a press briefing that the man's health deteriorated quickly after reporting to a hospital emergency room in the city of Madinah and he died on Monday night.

The health ministry also reported 205 new virus cases, bringing to the Kingdom's total to 676.

Saudi Arabia had on Monday imposed a nighttime 21-day curfew.

Violators will also have to pay a fine of SAR10,000 and it will be doubled for repeat offenders.

So far, the Gulf region detected more than 1,300 coronavirus infections. Most cases initially identified among travelers returning from Iran — one of the world's worst affected countries.
