The Saudi permanent delegation noted the Saudi position onthe nuclear agreement with Iran in 2015 in which the Kingdom expressed theimportance of a comprehensive international agreement on Iran's nuclear programthat would prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons in any way.

This is in light of the need to work on everything thatwould limit the spread of weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East andthe world, with full awareness of the consequences of actions and conduct overthe past 40 years that reflect its ill intentions of this agreement.

It added that Iran continued to provoke unrest and intensifyits activities destabilizing the region in particular and the whole world, withits insistence on the development of ballistic missiles, and support forterrorist groups in the region, including its threat to the internationalnavigation and maritime straits.

The delegation expressed the Kingdom's position on theimportance of the agreement to include a specific, strict and permanentinspection mechanism for all locations, including military sites, with amechanism to re-impose sanctions quickly and effectively if Iran violates theagreement.

On the other hand, the Kingdom's delegation referred to therecent statements made by a number of Iranian officials regarding Iran'snuclear program, drawing the attention of the Member States to the statement bythe Iranian President that his country would increase uranium enrichment to theextent it wants.
