The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a press statement on Thursday on the visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq to the Kingdom.

TheForeign Affairs statement:

At the invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to the Iraqi Prime Minister Dr. Adil Abdul-Mahdi to visit the Kingdom, and in view of strong historical ties between the two sisterly countries, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Iraq, and in consolidation of relations and the common desire to advance them towards wider horizons, and in investment of great potentialities and opportunities to enhance the existing cooperation between the two countries in political, security and economic fields, the Iraqi Prime Minister visited the Kingdom during the period 12-13 /8/1440H.

TheCustodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and thePrime Minister of the Republic of Iraq, Dr. Adil Abdul-Mahdi, held a session ofconsultations during which they discussed ways to enhance and develop bilateralrelations to serve the interests of the two countries and their peoples. Anumber of agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed in variousfields in the framework of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordinating Council.

TheCustodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Iraqi Prime Minister stressedhistorical, religious and social relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabiaand the Republic of Iraq and the importance of investing this political,historical and religious heritage and strengthening relations in line with thedirectives of the two leaderships.

The IraqiPrime Minister also met with His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman binAbdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense,and discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and latest developments atregional and international arenas and agreed to continue consultation andcoordination to enhance the unity of Arab ranks and the joint Arab action.

On thesidelines of the visit, the first meeting of the Political, Security andMilitary Affairs Committee, was held and co-chaired by the foreign ministers ofthe two countries.
