Saudi Arabia grants medal to 124 local organ donors

Saudi Arabia granted on Sunday 124 Saudi organ donors the King AbdulAziz Medal, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The decision was taken after the approval of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the honoring covered living and dead donors, including 46 women.

According to the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation, the kingdom carried out 11,509 kidney transplant surgeries in the last 30 years and transplanted 921 livers during the same period. More than 376 hearts were transplanted, while 650 hearts were used for human valves.
