Saudi Arabia in United Nations: Iranian regime is a Rogue and Terrorist Regime

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hasstressed that the recent hostilities and attacks on its oil facilities exposedthe nature of the Iranian regime to the whole world, noting that the world isfacing a rogue and terrorist regime, threatening international peace andsecurity, energy security and the global economy.

This came in a speech delivered bySaudi Foreign Minister Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Assaf at the 74th session ofUnited Nations General Assembly in New York.

Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al-Assafdescribed what occurred on 14th of September as a serious threat that violatesthe principles and charter of this organization and threatens the security,stability and prosperity of our region and the world, which necessitates ahistoric position from all of us.

Minister Al-Assaf stated that thesabotage attacks on the two oil facilities at Abqaiq and Khurais in the Kingdomusing 25 Cruise missiles and drones, caused a 50% decrease in oil productionequivalent to approximately 5.7 million barrels, are a flagrant violation ofinternational laws and norms and an attack on international peace and securityand constitute a major threat to oil supplies to world markets.

Al-Assaf pointed that who standsbehind such sabotage attacks, they also attacked commercial vessels in the Gulfof Oman in June and July as their proxies launched attacks on Abha Airport inJuly and Shaybah oil field in August.

The Foreign Minister noted that thisregime carried out terrorist acts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain,Kuwait, Lebanon, European countries and throughout the world as well as itsinvolvement in assassinations of a number of Saudi diplomats in Thailand in1989 and 1990, the Saudi diplomat in the city of Karachi in 2011, and in thesame year they attempted to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the UnitedStates and their assassination of Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri inBeirut in 2005 along with their terrorist acts in Denmark, France, Yemen,Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and other countries in the region.

Minister Al-Assaf affirmed that thisorganization, and the world as a whole are facing a moral and historicalresponsibility to deter and stand up against the terrorist and aggressivebehavior of the Iranian regime in order to maintain the international peace andsecurity, stability of the world economy and energy security.
