Saudi Arabia's official representative for the 2020 G20 summit, State Minister Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Mubarak, said that Saudi Arabia deployed continuous efforts to reach concrete solutions to world problems. He also underlined the importance of cooperation between the G20 states to achieve this goal.
Al-Mubarak briefed the UN General Assembly on preparations for the high-level meeting in November, in the presence of representatives of the 193 member-states.
The president of the UN General Assembly, Tijani Pandey, and the UN undersecretary-general opened NY meeting. They both expressed their hope for a successful G20 summit under the Kingdom's presidency.
Al-Mubarak said that his country "emphasizes the importance of the links between the Kingdom's G20 program, the UN agenda for sustainable development for 2030, and the Kingdom's Vision 2030".
He also noted that the group and the UN were "assuming an essential role in enhancing international cooperation".
The G20 agenda development process was inclusive and comprehensive to reflect the most important world issues. This was achieved under the guidance of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman,
At first, he presented the main goals of the G20 in 2020. Then, he stressed that the Kingdom would focus during its presidency on three axes that fall under the overall goal.
Those include empowering people, especially women and youth, by creating the right conditions for them to live and work. Besides, safeguarding the planet by fostering collective efforts to address issues of climate, water, food, and energy. Adding to adopting long-term strategies to share the benefits of technological development with a strong focus on the digital economy.
