Saudi British council to discuss private sector role in supporting economic reform

Minister of Communications and Information Technology, HE Abdullah Bin Amer Al-Swaha, met today in London with His Excellency the British Secretary of State for the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport , Rt Hon Oliver Dowden and Minister of State for Information and Data, Dr. John Whittingdale, to explore ways of enhancing cooperation between the two countries across the digital economy and technological transformation.

During the two meetings, His Excellency Al-Swaha discussed cooperation with the British side to develop the digital economy in the Middle East and North Africa region

and to support digital entrepreneurship in the Kingdom by relying on the digital and logistical capabilities of Saudi Arabia, given its leading global position in the fields of technical and digital transformation.

The meetings also dealt with a review of the investment opportunities that the Kingdom has in the field of technology, and investment opportunities available to leading

technology companies from the United Kingdom.

Additionally, other subjects that were touched upon include cooperation in the field of innovation, harnessing emerging technologies to support the two countries and to drive growth of the digital economy, the secure and free flow of data and ways to activate and develop new markets in digital content, e-sports, smart cities and renewable energy.
