The Saudi cabinet stressed on Tuesday the need to achieve stability in the region. Especially in wake of the latest developments in Iraq.

King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet meeting that was held in Riyadh.

The cabinet also called on the international community to assume its responsibilities to ensure stability of the region.

Turning to Libya, the ministers confirmed the Kingdom's rejection to the military escalation and Turkey's meddling in its affairs. The intervention violations international norms, treaties and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

It also undermines UN efforts aimed at resolving the Libyan crisis and poses a threat to Libyan, Arab and regional security.

King Salman briefed the ministers on the telephone call he held with Iraqi President Barham Salih. He stressed to him Riyadh's keenness on combating terrorist acts and underlined the importance of restoring security and stability in the region.

King Salman also briefed the cabinet on the message he delivered on Monday to Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Sabah.

Furthermore, King Salman praised the formation of the council of the Arab and African countries that overlook the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

He had received on Monday the foreign ministers of the member states, in Riyadh to sign the council's founding charter.

The cabinet stressed the importance of the council in boosting political, security and economic cooperation between its members. The council also seeks to bolster regional and international security and stability. It also realizes the significance of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden in international trade.
