Saudi Arabia Welcomes Cooperation with the UN Bodies in Human Rights fields

Dr. Awwadbin Saleh Al-Awwad, President of the Human Rights Commission (HRC), affirmedthat the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has welcomed cooperation in the field of humanrights with the various bodies, committees and mechanisms of the UnitedNations, particularly the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

This cameduring his meeting with Director of Field Operations and Technical Cooperationfor the UN Human Rights Office, Georgette Gagnon.

During themeeting, Dr. Al-Awwad reviewed the Kingdom's efforts to protect the humanrights in addition to the qualitative developments and reforms adopted in thisfield under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salmanbin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, highlighting theKingdom historical efforts in supporting the United Nations initiatives andappeals for United Nations humanitarian response initiatives in many countries,where the Kingdom topped the donors within the United Nations HumanitarianResponse Plan in Yemen 2019 with USD968.4 million, or 28% of the total aidprovided.

Al-Awwadstressed the Kingdom's keenness to support the field work of the UnitedNations, citing the efforts of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center(KSrelief) in providing the relief and humanitarian assistance.
