Saudi Arabia Welcomes Cooperation with the UN Bodies in Human Rights fields

Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad, President of the Human Rights Commission (HRC), affirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has welcomed cooperation in the field of human rights with the various bodies, committees and mechanisms of the United Nations, particularly the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

This came during his meeting with Director of Field Operations and Technical Cooperation for the UN Human Rights Office, Georgette Gagnon.

During the meeting, Dr. Al-Awwad reviewed the Kingdom’s efforts to protect the human rights in addition to the qualitative developments and reforms adopted in this field under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, highlighting the Kingdom historical efforts in supporting the United Nations initiatives and appeals for United Nations humanitarian response initiatives in many countries, where the Kingdom topped the donors within the United Nations Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen 2019 with USD968.4 million, or 28% of the total aid provided.

Al-Awwad stressed the Kingdom’s keenness to support the field work of the United Nations, citing the efforts of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) in providing the relief and humanitarian assistance.
