Saudi Arabia's Culture Ministry Launches the Largest Competition to Finance Films with Prizes up to 40m SAR

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Culture has launched on Sunday Dhao (Light) competition to support Saudi films within the Quality of Life Program, one of the programs to achieve the Kingdom's Vision 2030, to enable national talent active in the filmmaking field through four tracks including supporting script writing, developing them, supporting film production, in addition to supporting Saudis studying film making at international institutes and universities.

The competition receives filmmakers'requests from screenwriters and directors via the online platform https://engage.moc.gov.sa/filmduring the three-month registration period from 29 September to 29 December2019. All participants will be evaluated by the arbitration committee for theselection of winning film projects in each of the tracks of the competition,which will be announced on 20 February 2020.

This competition is the largest competition of its kind in support of Saudi films, where the total support to the Saudi film industry is about 40 million riyals and will support about 35 Saudi cinema projects between long and short films which will be produced in the period following the competition to be added to the balance of the emerging cinema of Saudi Arabia.
