Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz ordered a curfew from 7 pm to 6 am for 21 days. This is to slow the spread of the coronavirus state news agency's SPA reported on Monday.
The curfew will take effect on Monday evening.
The statement said the Ministry of Interior will undertake the necessary measures to implement the curfew. All civil and military authorities are ordered to cooperate fully.
The Royal Order to the concerned authorities included urging citizens to stay at home during the coming period, especially during the curfew, and not to leave except in cases of extreme necessity.
The Ministry of Interior said in a statement carried by the SPA that those excluded from the curfew are workers from vital industries and government services, such as food, health, media transportation and energy sectors.
