Saudi women reap medals at 6th GCC Women’s Games in Kuwait

Fencing Saudi Champions stand in the middle of the winners

The Saudi women national teams participating in the 6th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Women’s Games in Kuwait have achieved remarkable results.

The Saudi fencing team concluded its participation in the 6th session of GCC women’s Games with excellent results — a gold in the team sabre fencing and a bronze in the epee fencing. Fencers Hasna Al-Hammad, Ruba Al-Masri, Sheikha Al-Dosari and Fawzia Al-Dosari competed in the sabre category, while Nada Abed, Areej Abed, Fawzia Al-Khibari and Mashael Al-Khayal took part in the epee category.

Taekwondo Saudi Champions

The Saudi women’s taekwondo team finished third in the overall ranking of the taekwondo competition after snatching three medals (silver and bronze) thanks to Abrar Bukhari (who won the silver medal in the “Under-62kg” category) and Dunia Abu-Taleb (who won the silver medal in the “Under-53kg” category), and Al-Juhi (who won the bronze medal in the “Under-46kg” category).

The head of the Saudi delegation in the games session, Princess Nouf Bint Khalid, expressed her happiness with these distinguished results of the fencing team who presented great levels, stressing their quest for more achievements to raise the flag of Saudi Arabia in all international, regional and continental forums.

Princess Nouf added: “We have Saudi abilities and talents that will develop and compete globally soon. However, the players are young, they have provided good and honorable levels”.
