SDRPY (the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen) launched Tuesday a prevention and sterilization campaign in Hadhramaut Governorate, Yemen. This is to contain the outbreak of the new coronavirus.

The campaign started in Mukalla at the presence of governor of Hadramout, Major General Faraj Salmin al-Bahsani. The Health Ministry office in Hadramout in coordination with the Cleaning and Improvement Fund carried out the campaign.

It targeted population gatherings, markets, public places, and shopping malls. Besides, crowded streets in all Hadhramaut districts. Dilute chlorine helped to sterilize in a way that doesn't affect human as well as food.

During the inauguration, Bahsani said that Hadramout and its residents are precious and protecting them from COVID-19 is a duty.

This campaign falls under preventative procedures carried out by local authorities to protect citizens from Coronavirus.

SDRPY's support is an extension to the Saudi support to Yemen in various governorates; under the directives of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

It is part of a bunch of procedures to be implemented upon an extensive meeting for the Emergency Committee in Hadramout; procedures include shutting down Khat markets and banning gatherings in public places as well as organizing restaurants' activity.

For his part, Director General of the Health Office of Hadhramaut Dr. Riyadh al-Jariri also thanked Saudi Arabia for its urgent support provided by the program.
