Saudi Arabia on Friday announced 4,193 new coronavirus cases; bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the Kingdom to 201,801, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

The ministry said that 2,945 more patients have completely recovered from the deadly disease; bringing the total number of recoveries so far to 140,614.

The ministry also announced 50 more deaths from complications caused by the coronavirus infection; raising the total number of virus-related fatalities so far in the Kingdom to 1,802.

Of the new cases, 431 were reported in Dammam; 399 in Al Hafouf; 383 in Riyadh; 306 in Taif; 279 in Al Mobarraz; 210 in Makkah; and 169 in Jeddah.

Meanwhile, the health ministry said that it has added extra 2,199 intensive care unit beds within 90 days in various hospitals across all regions of the Kingdom to treat new coronavirus patients.

The ministry also said that the move is part of its ongoing efforts to provide maximum protection. This is to ensure the safety of citizens and residents and is in continuation of the application of the highest precautionary standards amid proactively preventive measures to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

The Ministry of Health said that Saudi Arabia in line with the directives of King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman took many proactive measures and effective decisions to reduce the implications of the pandemic. Besides, maintaining the health and safety of citizens and residents as well.
