UAE-China Talks on Improving Coordination

UAE's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed reviewed the global fight against the COVID-19 disease with State Councilor and Foreign Minister of China; Wang Yi. They also tackled on ways of coordinating efforts between the two friendly countries.

This came over a phone call between the two top diplomats. They deliberated bolstering the strategic partnership between the two countries in various fields; with emphasis on the energy sector, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported on Friday.

China is a role model

WAM quoted Sheikh Abdullah as saying that China is a role model for disseminating hope for successfully fighting COVID-19. He also hailed the decisive measures taken by the Chinese leadership. Besides, the Chinese people's compliance with them to bring the pandemic under control in China.

He lauded the cooperation between the UAE and China on the exchange of expertise. Besides, providing necessary medical equipment to curb the spread of the virus.

"The channels of cooperation between the two countries on the coronavirus reflect the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations," he added, according to WAM.

The UAE top diplomat also praised China for extending a helping hand to several countries to overcome the impact of the novel virus.

"Together we will survive these tough circumstances…We will overcome this challenge and forge ahead with our development drive to ensure prosperity and stability for our peoples," he added.

The UAE has conducted over 49,000 additional COVID-19 tests, using state-of-the-art technology in line with the Ministry of Health and Prevention's plans to intensify virus screening in order to bring COVID-19 under control.

The testing resulted in the detection of 370 new coronavirus cases among various nationalities, all of whom are in stable condition and receiving the necessary care, taking to 3,360 the total number of cases in the country, according to a MoHaP statement.

The Ministry also revealed the death of two patients suffering from COVID-19. Both of the deceased are Asian nationals and had pre-existing chronic illnesses. The total number of deaths has now reached 16.
