The World Food Programme (WFP)condemned Tuesday Iran-backed Houthi militia preventing the UN personnel fromsmoothly distributing food assistance over the needy in areas under Houthicontrol in Yemen, threatening to suspend the operations due to fears ofpractices of embezzlement and blockade of the assistance to their destinations.

"WFP expresses deep concern overthe incidents of embezzlements which took place regarding food assistance andchanging their directions in areas under control of Houthi militias as theyinterfere to take assistance to their dependents and followers, change names ofbeneficiaries and prevent feeding non-loyal, thus obstructing the whole programand its objectives." The international Programme said in a statement.

"The great challenge to our jobis not fighting and weapons but the non-compliance role of the Militia leadersin areas they control, the statement said, calling for stopping such behaviors."The stamen added.

The WFP decision of implementing aphased suspension is a last resort, unless the Houthi leaders cease thispractice, the statement said, confirming that it will do its best to reach themost vulnerable millions of children and women in Yemen.
