Yemeni Government Condemns Erdogan’s Statements on Operations of Arab Coalition

The Yemeni government today denounced Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's statement in which he falsely compared between Turkey's violation of the sovereignty and independence of Syria and the operations of the Saudi-led coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen against Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militia.

The Yemeni government described the statement of the Turkish president as "provocative", according to the official Yemeni News Agency.

It stressed in astatement that the operations of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemencame on the basis of the principle of self-defense in Article (51) of theCharter of the United Nations, the Charter of Arab League, and the Joint ArabDefense Treaty, which was reinforced by Security Council resolution 2216.

The Yemen's Governmentsaid: "The Republic of Yemen condemns these statements and recalls at thesame time the position of the Turkish government, which was announced at the beginningof Determination Storm which supported legitimacy and operations of theCoalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen."

Yemen's Government added that the Republic of Yemen highly appreciates the leadership and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting the Yemeni people and their government politically, military, economic, relief and development against Iranian interference in Yemen, and its continued support for the Houthi militia to continue its coup and assault on the Yemeni people and undermine and destroy the institutions of the state.
